About Underwood Lamb
We are a small general accountancy practice and we pride ourselves on providing a cost effective, timely and professional service to our clients. We enjoy getting to know our clients and their business and personal tax situations to enable us to provide advice and support tailored to their individual needs.
Our offices are situated in the lovely village of Chew Magna just south of Bristol in the heart of the picturesque Chew Valley. The Practice has a broad and varied client base in terms of type and size but predominantly comprising of local family/owner-managed businesses together with a large number of personal tax return clients. Around 95% of our clients are situated within a fifteen mile radius of our offices allowing us to be on hand and easily accessible whenever the clients need to speak to us. We also have a number of clients throughout the country as well as in the Chew Valley itself and our high level of investment and utilisation of IT means that distance is no obstacle to providing a high level of service to all clients.
The practice is well known in the local area and also has strong links, through its membership of the National Business Advisors Group, with accountants and business advisors throughout the UK and internationally.
The practice, its management and staff take a strong interest in the local Chew Valley community assisting a number of voluntary and community groups with their accounting requirements. We are also one of the founding members of the Chew Valley Chamber of Commerce for which we provide office and administrative resources.
Originally formed by Dennis Underwood and Richard Lamb, the Underwood Lamb practice has been established in the Bristol/Bath area since 1959 and celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2009.
Originally based in central Bristol, the practice then moved its main offices to Midsomer Norton near Bath where it was based for many years until moving in 1994 to the current location in Chew Magna in the heart of the picturesque Chew Valley just south of Bristol.
The Underwood Lamb core accountancy practice was run for many years by Andrew Lamb, son of Richard Lamb, alongside a number of other companies bearing the Underwood Lamb brand in areas such as Financial Services, Business Consultancy and Mediation.
In 2003, Andrew Lamb established PKB Underwood Lamb Associates specialising in off-shore taxation. This is an area in which Andrew already had strong affiliations and expertise through work with associates in many European countries though his membership and past presidency of the Association de Brecourt, a pan-European group of accountants and business advisors.
In 2004, the core UK accountancy practice based in Chew Magna passed over to Rod Podger. Rod had been with Underwood Lamb since 1987 and had trained and qualified through the practice and been a client portfolio manager alongside Andrew at the Chew Magna offices for approaching 10 years.
